Mariana

San Bartolo, Valles Centrales, Oaxaca

During the months of the pandemic the information about COVID-19 was irregular and inconsistent in the rural and indigenous communities, however, Mariana had an idea of the subject before the mural: “I knew of the problem because I was seeing its effects, classes and other activities were suspended in the municipality.”

Mariana was part of the collective process for the design of the mural. For her the message it transmits is that we should take care of ourselves.

The mural uses symbolism to touch on health, care, and local customs. For Mariana the mural is representative because the images are very clear and visible.

She had never participated in community work but considers that its useful to continue talking about this and other similar topics: “I want there to be more information about migration for children and for their families.”
