Phase 1: COVID-19 Prevention and Labor Rights

A tu migración
¡no te vayas sin información!

The campaign A tu migración, ¡no te vayas sin información! was developed in the context of the first phase of Proyecto Ambulantes, and focused on providing information about COVID-19 and labor rights to domestic migrant agricultural workers and their families.

The campaign was implemented as an in-person initiative, engaging the target communities directly through field visits and community meetings. It was carried out by the partner organizations Caminos Centro de Acompañamiento a Migrantes, AC, and Fomento Cultural y Educativo, AC, which distributed a variety of items, including personal protective equipment (masks, antibacterial gel, and other items) provided by Proyecto Ambulantes, as well as printed materials on COVID-19 prevention, vaccination, and labor rights.

La Voz Campesina Radio Huaya 105.5 FM, a radio station operated by Fomento Cultural y Educativo, AC, produced a series of radio programs and spots on topics related to Proyecto Ambulantes, in Spanish as well as the indigenous languages of Náhuatl, Otomí and Tepehua. These languages are spoken in the regions of the Sierra Norte and the Huasteca of Veracruz, which fall within the organization’s coverage area.

As part of the campaign, digital materials were also developed and shared via WhatsApp (primarily targeting agricultural day laborers) and Facebook (to reach a broader audience, including foundations, organizations, and the general public).

Slogan

The phrase “A tu migración, ¡no te vayas sin información!” highlights the significant and decisive act of leaving one’s community of origin for distant work opportunities. It introduces the concept of “information” as a key resource we aim to provide migrants, an essential tool for gaining knowledge and addressing various aspects of personal protection before their departure. The intention is not to burden them with the responsibility for their own safety, but rather to equip them with the basic tools available to ensure a safer migration.

We are providing downloadable campaign materials to users of this digital platform in order to maximize their reach and engage as many migrant agricultural laborers as possible.
