Fomento Cultural y Educativo
In the rural indigenous communities of Texcatepec, Veracruz, labor migration has been viewed as the primary means of generating income, despite the risks and social impacts it entails. On the other hand, local productive alternatives have recently begun to emerge, aimed at strengthening family economies and fostering community roots.
To generate a comparative analysis of the different forms of migration, as well as the alternative of a local cooperative, Fomento, A.C. conducted a study in Otomí communities in the region between 2024 and 2025, generating information to support families’ decision-making based on economic, social, and risk factors.

And why did they close? Migrant schools in Oaxaca

Caminos Centro de Acompañamiento a Migrantes
In Oaxaca, children and adolescents from migrant farmworker families have had their basic education disrupted following the closure of the Migrant Schools in their communities in 2021.
At the request of these families, Caminos Centro de Acompañamiento a Migrantes A.C., investigated the causes behind the disappearance of these 47 educational centers. The findings reveal the absence of a public policy to guarantee the right to education for children and adolescents from internal migrant families, as well as a lack of official information and assessments to help correct course.
